About The Kids Press
A free monthly newspaper for curious kids and the grown-ups who love them.
Our Story
The Kids Press started at a kitchen table in Durham Region, with a stack of hand-drawn puzzles and a simple idea: what if every family could pick up something fun to do together, for free? Today our monthly paper is printed locally and shared through libraries, community centres and learning centres across the region.
Our Mission
To give kids and families screen-free fun time that sparks reading, creativity and problem-solving, with stories, jokes, trivia and puzzles that are made right here at home.
Our Vision
A Durham Region where every child has something wonderful to read, every family has a reason to sit down together, and local businesses help make it happen.
Why Screen-Free Matters
Paper puzzles and printed stories slow things down. They build focus, fine-motor skills and imagination, and they invite conversation. A little screen-free time each week helps kids rest their eyes and grow their curiosity.
